Why Blend Food?
Blending is an excellent way to receive nutrients for healthy people or people with health challenges because blending provides a complete meal and it is pre-digested. Therefore, the body does not have to work hard to assimilate nutrients. When Rejuvelac is used in preparing the green soup, it acts as an antioxidant. Be cautious not to blend the skins of oranges and grapefruits because they contain toxin as well as carrot and rhubarb greens. Always to remove pits and core of apples, peaches, and plums since they contain cyanide.

Raw Oatmeal
For breakfast, I love raw oatmeal. I soak 1/2 to 1 cup of mixed rolled oats and steel cut oats in almond milk for 1 to 2 hours in the dehydrator. I love the chewy texture and taste of warm milk. I do not have this every morning because of Candida issue, but when I do I enjoy it with joy.

Do You Know Your Candida Level In Your Body?
Surprisingly, I eat vegan 90% raw, living food and 10% cooked food, I am struggling to control candida in my body. I check my candida in the morning by spitting my first saliva in a clear glass filled with water. If you have overgrowth of candida, you will notice cloudy strings or droppings coming down from the spit.
What is candida? Candida is an overgrowth of fungus. When candida growth is out of control in your body, you experience many symptoms such as bloating, constipation, gas, heartburn, brain fog, depression, chronic bad breath, leaky gut syndrome, recurrent vaginal or urinary infections, severe mood swings, memory loss, rectal itching and many more.
I recommend you read CANDIDA HEALTH THROUGH LIVING FOODS BY LALITA SALAS. I am on my way to take control over candida through limiting sweet fruits or vegetables.
When you have a harmony in your digestive system, you will feel so much better and refreshed.

Spring Clean Your Body
I really learned so much while I was up at Creative Health Institute (CHI) for 10 days detoxification. I felt compelled to bring CHI detox to Youngstown. The detox class will be very similar to CHI but with a bit of twist. I realize that most of us have to work during 3 day detox. We have responsibilities. If we are at a place where you just relax and detox, we can do just like CHI, but that is NOT an option for you.
Remember our body is a machine. Do you not change oil and clean out your car engine to work efficiently? Your body needs TLC from you. This is one way to help yourself. Come and learn to spring clean your body!!!!!
I have contacted wheat grass growing place in Akron, Ohio.
The dates are:
*April 10, Sun, 1pm to 4pm. This class is for people who HAVE attended the living food class. The cost is not determined.
*April 30, Sat, 1pm to 5pm. This class is for anyone who wants to learn detox. The cost is not determined.
Please call if you are interested in detox. 330 727 7251 or 330 953 1097
The next post is going to be how to use your leftover pulp from your juicing

Organic VS. Nonorganic
This is from my daughter's blog. I am posting in my blog because everyone needs to be aware of our action and inaction. When our earth is sick, we get sick. We are so connected and integrated to our earth.
Sam Anderson's Post
Sam Anderson's Post
Sorry everybody! I was busy this pass month so I wasn't able to post at all! I hope I didn't lose anyone!
Here is an essay I wrote about the differences of buying organic over conventional. I hope you like it!
Here is an essay I wrote about the differences of buying organic over conventional. I hope you like it!
It was a dismal day. Rain pounded the streets, windows, and people relentlessly. The distant rolling of thunder echoed without and shook the air. I parked my car into the nearest parking lot. I dragged on my coat and snatched up my purse. After checking that I had my car keys in hand, I clambered out of the car and quickly ran to the entrance of the store.
Walking into the store, I was welcomed with a blast of warm air. I grabbed up a basket and proceeded to the produce section. I was confronted with a row of apples. On one side there were organic apples and the other held conventional apples. I glanced at the prices. The organic apples were considerably more expensive compared to the conventional apples. I thought to myself. Why is organic stuff more expensive than conventional stuff? What is organic anyway? Is it really worth the extra money?
I walked over and picked up one of each. They didn’t look much different or even feel different. I decided to buy both. As I walked out of the store into the blistery weather, I thought to myself. What makes these two apples so different?
Both the terms, organic and conventional, refer to the way the produce is grown and processed. Both of these terms also dictate the way you, the consumer, and the environment are affected. Though many don’t realize, wellbeing of one’s health and the environment greatly resides on which you choose. Many people often prefer conventional products that have been treated with pesticides due to the cost and convenience; however, there are many alarming test results and findings that suggest conventional products are harmful to the body.
Conventional and organic produce are grown very differently. Conventional products are heavily sprayed with pesticides and herbicides, so to be rid of “troublesome” weeds and insects. They are also grown in chemical fertilizers. On the other hand, organic farmers use other means to achieve the same effect. They mulch, hand weed, or rotate crops to prevent weeds. Many; however, use the weeds to help nourish their crops. To help regulate insects, organic farmers set traps or rely on other creatures such as birds and other insects. To fertilize their soil, organic farmers use manure or compost. Organic products are also non-GMO. I will refer to GMO’s later in this essay. (All information above from http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/2008/09/organic_green.html and Jeffrey Smith’s Seed’s of Deception)
I have encountered many people have said to me that they have never had any problems with eating conventional foods. They say that they don’t experience any illness or ailments. They also say that they wash their produce before eating them. This is what I tell them. The consumption of pesticides does not affect you immediately, like if you eat a rotten piece of meat. These chemicals are foreign to the body and therefore, the body cannot dispose of it properly. The chemicals build up in your body, hiding in your fat, muscles, and organs. (Jeffrey Smith’s Seed’s of Deception)This builds up taxes the liver, which has to clean up the dreadful mess. This build up of toxins forces your body to react by showing you symptoms. However, these symptoms are often misinterpreted or not even connected to the toxicity in your body. Some of the symptoms are asthma, birth defects (a commonly used pesticide, Dursban, has been known to cause this), neurological damage (lowered IQ, learn disadvantages, and permanent brain damage), various cancers, and hormone disruption (fertility problems and early puberty). (http://www.kidsforsavingearth.org/mnchec/articles/pesticides.htm)
Washing your produce to get rid of chemicals only gives you a false sense of security. A CNN report states that after a stalk of conventional celery was FDA approved power washed, it still contained 67 different pesticides. When these plants are sprayed, the skin of the produce absorbs it. Plus, when it rains, the rain water is contaminated with the chemicals. The contaminated water is then absorbed by the plant which uses it to grow and produce. So no matter what, the plant will have high concentrations of chemicals still in it.
Due to the fact that organic farmers do not use these obviously harmful chemicals; these products do not contain them. However, because of the horrendous pollution pesticides and herbicides cause, there are concerns of cross contamination. (http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/2008/09/organic_green.html) However, if the product is USA approved organic, than it is completely organic.
Sadly, though, do to the use of chemical fertilizers and other chemical treatments to crops, our air, water, and soil are contaminated in some way or another. This makes it even harder for organic farmers to produce their crops. Organic farming has shown to maintain healthy soil, use less water, and provide prosperous ecosystems. (http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/2008/09/organic_green.html) Because of the soil contamination, organic farmers have to wait four years without treating their soil to produce organic crop to sell. Also they have to buy manure and other organic fertilizers that are considerable more expensive than chemical fertilizers and pesticides. (http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/2008/09/organic_green.html)
They must also prevent any other contamination by watching their water supply, seed supply, and other various factors. Because organic farmers have to invest more into their crops than conventional farmers, the cost of organic produce is higher.
As I stated above, organic products are non-GMO. GMO (Genetically Modified Organisms) are organisms that are injected with foreign DNA, viruses, and bacteria to create a new organism. (Jeffrey Smith’s Seed’s of Deception)There are two kinds of GMO plants. One type is the poison drinker. When the rows of these plants are sprayed with pesticides, everything but the GMO plant dies. The other is called the poison producer. When an insect consumes this plant, it bursts and dies. Animal, when given the choice, refuse to eat GMO foods. When rats are feed GMO potatoes, they became sick, some even died. Their offspring became infertile, small and sickly. Despite this evidence, GMO crops are all over the market. These GMO crops are corn (like corn syrup, corn oil), soy, cotton, canola, some squashes, and tobacco. This means that GMO’s are in candy bars, chips, snacks, your clothes, cosmetics, produce, cereal, and many other products. Also the government does not require the companies to label whether their product contains GMO or not. Why are these GMO’s created? President Bush and Congress passed a bill that gave the people the right to patent on life. Once more, organic products are non- GMO. (All information above from Jeffrey Smith’s Seed’s of Deception)
Like I said before, people chose the food they eat because of the convenience and cost. However, I want you to think. How much is you life, your health, worth? How much is your parent’s health worth? Your children’s? How much is the earth worth? We take so many things for granted and food is one of them. We buy it and eat it, not even thinking about the consequences. I know the value of health. I nearly lost my mom to cancer twice. Since then, I no longer take health and food for granted. I hope this essay has helped. I promote a healthy organic, animal friendly diet. I know it is hard to buy organic foods due to the costs, but if you try and buy organic produce with thin skin and many layer, like lettuce and cabbage, you are making a big change. Support organic products. Support a healthy life. Support a healthy earth.

Benefit Of Eating Raw, Living Food
These are just a few When you cook food above 115 degrees, the food enzymes which are protein compounds that we need to perform nearly every bodily function, including digestion, is destroyed. The reserved enzymes in your body need to come to aid in the digestive process; therefore, causing your body to work harder to digest and absorb nutrients. When you eat raw or living food, you are helping your body to work less to digest and allowing the enzymes to do other important activities, like repairing and cleansing. Remember, the older we get, the less enzymes there are in our body.
Also, when you eat raw, you are consuming the full nutritional value the food has to offer, whereas cooked foods lose some of its nutritional value.
A raw food diet rejuvenates the body both physically and mentally. You feel and look younger and healthier. You also become happier and have a more positive outlook on life. Eating raw has so many benefits, ranging from clearing the digestive tract to helping people shed some unwanted pounds.

Danger Of Artificial Sweeteners
"Artificial"...... Let's ponder for a minute of the meaning of artificial. Artificial sweeteners are not found in nature, but they are man made chemical. Current list of artificial sweeteners are saccharin, cyclamate, aspartame, alitame, sucralose, acesulfame-K, and neotame. These artificial sweeteners do not contain any vitamins or minerals. They became desirable to the public because they provide sweet tasting flavor without the caloric intake; however, the effects ofconsuming artificial sweeteners are not desirable.
"The research team found that the sweetener was associated with high rates of lymphoma, leukemia and other cancer in rats who were given doses equivalent to five 20 ounce diet sodas a day" http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,184872,00.html
The CDC studied 214 of 592 cases of aspartame complains. The report showed that people experienced aggressive behavior, disorientation, hyperactivity, extreme numbness, excitability, memory loss, loss of depth perception, liver impairment, cardiac arrest, seizures, suicidal tendencies, severe mood swings, and death. The
CDC presented in the 146 page report that it is important to investigate further into the neurological and behavioral issues relating to aspartame.
Public consumes these artificial sweeteners believing that there is no consequences of weight gain, but according to "The Nurses' Health Study in 1970 found weight gain over eight years in 31,940 women using saccharin. In the early '80s, the American Cancer Society's study of 78,694 women found that after one year 2.7% to 7.1% more regular artificial-sweetener users gained weight compared to nonusers. The San Antonio Heart Study followed 3,682 adults over eight years on the early '80s. Those who consumed more artificial sweeteners had higher BMIs, and the more that they consumed, the higher the BMI."
http://www.medicinenet.com/artificial_sweeteners/page11.htm How about that! We thought we were doing ourselves a favor by consuming artificial sweeteners, but it has a reverse consequence. Something to really think about!
In 1998, scralose was approved and it is sold under the name Splenda. According to Dr. Mercola, the book called, The No-Grain Diet, stated that "Few human studies of safety have been published. One small study of diabetic patients using the sweetener showed a significant increase in glycosylated hemoglobin (Hba1C), which is a marker of long-term blood glucose levels and is used to assess control in diabetic patterns."
In raw living food world, we use actual food sweeteners like dates, raisins, maple syrup, yacon, lucama, stevia, or agave. Not everyone of these sweets are raw or living, but unlike artificial sweeteners, these sweets are not produced in the laboratory and these ingredients provide a very valuable nutrition as well as satisfy sweet craving.
Your body will reward you with a healthier you when you consume foods in their natural state, not processed or man-made.

Living Food Lifestyle Is More Than The Changes Of Your Dinner Plate
When I started a raw, living food journey, little did I know I found "myself" in me. This raw, living food journey transformed me not only physically, but spiritually and mentally as well (I am about 95% raw, living. During the winter time, I do eat hot vegetable soup and cooked brown rice). If you ask my husband, Jim, (we have been together for 22 years), I used to see things half empty. I was a worry wart and thought of what "if" all the time. Now, I see things half full with positive outlook and attitude. Don't get me wrong; I have moments of doubts or feeling down, but it is very rare.
I find myself appreciate my present life so much more with gratitude. Tangible materials did not matter when I was dealing with painful health challenges. I learned that nothing matters more than my own health. When my health was taken away from me, I was not able to enjoy what mattered to me. I felt betrayed by my own body. At times, I imagined that I traded my current body for a painfree new one like the movies. Wishful thinking!!!!
I used to take things for granteed. I never appreciated life force energy, food. I just ate. I never gave any thoughts on how food got on my plate. Now, I have a great deal of appreciation towards to earth, soil, nature, water, air...... Everyday of my life is a gift.
I am very proud of who I am today. My goal in life is when I ask myself, "any regrets?, I want my answer to be "I have done well." I know I am walking and living on that path.

Carrot Juice With Raspberries
I drink carrot juice with raspberries almost everyday. I usually buy organic juicing carrots. I buy organic raspberries when they are in season and freeze them. Although, frozen raspberries lose half of its vitamin C; however, it still provides antioxidant, "ellagitannins, a family of compounds almost exclusive to the raspberry, which are reported to have anti-cancer activity. Vitamin C contributes about 20% of the total antioxidant capacity, accounting for up to 30 milligrams in 100 grams (3.5 ounces) of fruit. Raspberries anthocyanins, especially cyanidin and pelagonidin glycosides, make up another 25%. And more good news: freezing and storing raspberries does not significantly affect their antioxidant activity, although in this study, their concentration of vitamin C was halved by the freezing process". http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=foodspice&dbid=39 Not only that, rapsberries are rich in water-soluble fiber called, pectin, which lowers cholesterol.
My skin has orange color to it because of everyday intake of carrot juice. That's fine by me because "Carrots are by far one of the richest source of carotenoids-just one cup provides 16,679 IUs of beta-carotene and 3,432 REs (retinol equivalents), or roughly 686.3% the RDA for vitamin A. High carotenoid intake has been linked with a 20% decrease in postmenopausal breast cancer and an up to 50% decrease in the incidence of cancers of the bladder, cervix, prostate, colon, larynx, and esophagus. Extensive human studies suggest that a diet including as little as one carrot per day could conceivably cut the rate of lung cancer in half." http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=foodspice&dbid=21

The Green Leaves Between The Steak And The Baked Potato
We see a green stick with green leaves all the time between the steak and the baked potato. That green stick with green leaves is called PARSLEY. Parsley is many times overlooked and often thought as a decorative piece among the meat and the starch. Now, you are about to find out the mighty power of parsley.
Parsley is rich in chlorophyll that aids in detoxification especially in kidney and liver. Also, parsley provides Vitamin A,C, K, and B vitamins, beta carotene, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, manganese, potassium, folic acid, and sulfur.
Parsley can:
1. build blood.
2. aid in digestion.
3. boots energy.
4. combats fatigue.
5. dissolves cholesterol.
6. supports the adrenals.
7. strengthens teeth and bones.
8. prevents birth defects.
9. eliminates bloating.
10. reduces inflammation, and many more.
11. detoxifies kidney and liver.
To maximize the benefit of parsley, I like to use in salad, juice, and my energy green soup. Usually, I chop parsley very fine and mix with my salad. Also, I use parsley when I make salad dressing. Juicing parsley is another great way to get all the benefits, but parsley juice should not be drunk by itself and use only one 1 to 2 ounces. I like to add parsley juice in carrot or apple juice.
Next time, when you are eating steak and potato, don't ignore your green leafy friend, parsley!

Banana Ice Cream
We all love ice cream. We love the creamy sweet ice cream. However, here is the reality! Did you know that U.S. milk contains rBGH (recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone)? If you would like to find more about what rBGH milk can do to your body, please check out http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2001/08/25/milk-part-three.aspx or a book by Dr. Epstein called What's in Your Milk? This article will blow your mind away because it involves your children's future health.
So, how do we satisfy our desire for ice cream. Frozen banana!!!! Here is the recipe for you will take no more than 5 to 10 minutes to prepare.Frozen Banana Ice Cream

Raw/Living Food Kitchen
I love to create raw/living food for me and my family to enjoy. My daughter, Sam, and I put our thinking caps on and contemplate about different spices, herbs, sweets, treats, and meals. We love simple and easy preparing recipes. We like our recipes to take no more than 15 to 30 minutes to make a meal with simple directions.
We like when we use no equipments. We like to prepare our meals mostly with a knife and cutting board. When we do use any type of kitchen equipments, we use food processor the most. We believe most of you own one. We make marinara sauce, chili, cookies, sauce, pudding...... the possibilities are endless. Now, if you like to be a little fancy in preparing living food, a high speed blender comes in handy. we believe you might already own one of those blender to make fruity Margarita drinks. With a high speed blender, you can make creamy desserts, almond milk, soup.... also the possibilities are endless.
So far so good.... before you even realize your kitchen is already equip to create raw/living food. We love creating treats. My daughter and I like to fiddle with a machine called, dehydrator. This machine is not necessary to have to be raw/living food. We like to use it make lunch snacks like fruit leather (replacing those artificially colored or flavored chewy candy), crackers, chips..... again the possibilities are endless.
We like our dehydrators, but mostly we use knives, cutting boards, and food processor. Most of my clients were very surprised to find out how quickly they were able to create delicious dishes.

Are You Being Fed GMO (genetically Motified Organism) Foods?
Dear Friends,
I know that many of you have never heard of GMO. What is GMO? GMO foods are produced in the laboratory by inserting genes of bacteria, viruses, insects, animals, or even humans into the DNA of food crops or animals.
If I tell you that......, how do you feel?
1. Americans have been eating GMO foods since 1996,
2. these multinational biotech companies inserted genes from species like bacteria and viruses which have never been in the human food supply,
3. the American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) states, "Several
animal studies indicate seriou health risks associated with GM food," including infertility, immune problems, accelerated aging, faulty insulin regulation, and changes in major organs and the gastrointestinal system.
Furthermore, United States does not require labeling. I guess you would know the reason for no labeling.
The next question is what are the GMO foods on the market?
1. soy (surprised)
2. corn (shocked)
3. canola
4. cotton
5. sugar beets
6. papaya from Hawaii
7. a little bit of zucchini and yellow crookneck squash
Now, you need to know that the many of these foods are used in many different forms and ways.
For example, the corn is used in feeding domastic animals like cows, chickens, and pigs. The corn is made into corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup (new name: corn sugar), and corn oil. If I tell that over 90% of United States' corn are GMO, would you believe it? The answer is YES!!!! So, what type of corn is your soda you are drinking everyday?
Now, you want to know why they are not labeled on the packages of food we buy. If you have a choice to pick between nonGMO and GMO product, what would you choose? According to Jeffrey Smith, the author of Seeds of Deception, states, "the FDA official in charge of creating this (no label required) policy was Michael Taylor, the former attorney for Monsanto, the largest biotech company, and later their vice president."
Please, do your own research and find more about GMO. Just last month, the biotech company tried to introduce GM salmon in our food supply. The salmons grow twice as bigger than the nonGM salmons in a very short time.
Do you feel that you spend your hard earn money to buy foods of your choice? Think again......

Also, if you would like to learn in depth, I would recommend Seeds of Deception by Jeffrey Smith.
